Instructed Visual Structure and Language for Animation.Students are encouraged to take the visual language of cinema and apply them to creating a sequential visual story. Camerawork and cinematic structure is discussed with examples from both art and film. Approaches to perspective, continuity and story-telling will be explored, as well as the integration of script elements with shot composition.
A hands-on intensive study of Digital Matte Painting techniques used in background and establishing shots. Students are encouraged to take traditional painting tools and concepts and apply them in the digital world. Photo-realism in painting is discussed with examples from both art and film. Approaches to painting architecture, nature and interiors will be explored, as well as the integration of painted matte elements with live action video footage.
